Vacationlog 2008.05.06: Relaxing Start

It's been months since I woke up after 9 AM. Of course, today was the first full day of vacation, so I took advantage and slept in. I programmed the coffee maker for 7 AM, but fortunately it was still hot a couple of hours later.

My wife, Lourdes, and I arrived in Florida yesterday afternoon. Last year, we became owners in the Hilton Grand Vacations Club, and we have returned to our home resort, International Drive - Orlando. We will be here until next Thursday, May 15, 2008. I plan to blog about our vacation , and I'll probably post a few pictures.

What do we have planned? Well, this year, we will be fulfilling a life-long dream of Lourdes': Swimming with the dolphins! Yes, next Monday, we have reservations at Discovery Cove. We also have tickets for Sea World and Universal Studios. We have never been to Sea World, and it's been over 14 years since we last went to Universal. Sorry Disney, not this time.

The balcony overlooking the lake served as a fitting setting for a leisure breakfast today. With temperatures in the 80's, I soon retreated back into the air conditioned condo. It will probably take me a few more days to grow accustomed to the Florida heat.

Hopefully I sleep better tonight. Last night I had a hard time relaxing, so I tossed and turned a lot. I'm more in "vacation-mode" after a relaxing day, and I expect a more restful slumber tonight. I'll probably program the coffeemaker for 7 AM again, but I won't rush out of bed again. We are going to Universal tomorrow, so it should be a lot of fun.

Stay tuned for more!
